Hello,ladies
has anyone had acupuncture?QUESTION my PT wants to try acupuncture on my thumb/foot/knee I'm thinkin it'd probably not be good since the needles go right to the nerve itself but just wanted to ask -
I'm new into this RSD and I'm having a hard time right now. It's in my feet/hand /knee they hurt really really badCRY

I've only known of a few people who tried it. I thought about it a long time ago and decided I couldn't stand the thought of needles stuck in my bad arm. One person I remember said they got some relief but the rest either couldn't stand it and ended up in a flare or it did nothing.

thing is with RSD, acupuncture won't put you in remission so it would have to be done over and over and over again. Even if it does help... I just don't think it's good to stick needles in the RSD area. If you can't get blood drawn or even a finger prick test then why on earth would anyone think 50 needles in the RSD site would be a good idea??? Now, this is my own layman's opinion. I'm not a doctor.

I know of a few people who have tried and know of no one with long term success.

I'm aware of people who have had RSD flare and spread due to the treatments. It took several treatments before they stopped because of the pain.

We are all different with our reactions to treatments so keep an open mind and investigate what is being suggested completely. Never ever just do what a doctor recommends until you have a full understanding of what that treatment could cause.

Don't fret you will find your way and alternative choices can help.

As for me === I wouldn't do it the thought of using needles on a person with RSD should be limited -- at least that's my belief. Needles, IV's or shots, bug bites, bruises -- all could start RSD.
