My brother in law has this terrible disease too. His was caused by an
'on the job' injury. It advanced quickly, and didn't receive proper care. Two weeks ago, he fell into a coma, caused by an infection in his RSD foot. The infection has spread throughout his body now. His liver and kidneys have failed, and he is dying. All directly caused by the RSD.

In addition, his doctors thought he was seeking drugs for bad reasons-and no one would help him. In an attempt to overcome his pain, he has been 'self medicating' with IV drugs. Hepatitis C has been the result, but ultimately it will not kill him-because his liver is killing him now. We are making plans to see him if possible, before he dies. He's only 36 years old...

Sorry so many of my posts have been depressing lately. It's been rough the last few months...

Thanks for listening.

Oh honey, I am so sorry. I don't know what to say. I wish I could say or do something to take the hurt away so you and your family wouldn't have to go through this.

Your brother in law is a great example of why the medical profession needs to get their crap together.

Worker's comp is a really tough thing to deal with when you have this monster. You already have so much on your plate then dealing with all the rules and the stupidity on top of it...

I hope the hospital is at least going to help with pain control now. This is horrible. I wish he had been able to get proper care. If he had he wouldn't be where he is now that's for sure.

You really have been through the ringer lately. You are one strong lady to be able to deal with so much and your own health problems on top of it all.

We are here any time you need us. I will keep your brother in law and your family in our prayers.

Thank you for your support. We got the call that his body is shutting down about 4:45am. We're not going to make it in time to see him...

I haven't been able to sleep due to pain and dysfunction-likely a stress problem. I'm literally crying about everything. No positive stress response left I guess. I hope you guys have a good, and pain free (okay-not really possible...)but hopefully kept a manageable levels.

I'm just waiting for my doc's office to start taking calls today. There's no way I can wait until August 13 for help.

Bye for now,
Tam

You might talk to your doctor about an anti anxiety med or something along those lines.
With everything going on it's no wonder you are on overload. Please remember to take care of yourself. You can't take care of eveyrthing and everybody else if you don't take time for yourself.

Try to take some warm/hot bubble baths, relax, do some deep breathing. I know it's hard with all of this. Wish I was closer to you.
This is just awful. CRY

We are here if you need us. You have my home number if you want to talk. You are more than welcome to call anytime. If you don't have free long distance and need to talk just call me and I'll call you back.

Gentle hugs

Thank you so much for all your kind words and support. He passed away quietly Wednesday night, just before midnight. He was given a lot of morphine, so we don't think he was in any pain. The service will be held in McAllen, TX tomorrow in English. A Spanish service will be held on Sunday. My husband and his brothers will be pallbearers for the burial on Monday morning...

I am trying to take care of myself, right now I feel kind of numb. I think the best thing for me to do is to stay busy in my ministry. It always helps me to regain my focus.

My love goes out to all of you.
Tammy

I'm so sorry, hon. Wish I knew what to say. He is in a better place and isn't in pain any more. Your family is in our prayers.

So sorry Tammy for you and your families loss.

I wish there was some way to create something positive, telling his story, his fight and too loose so young do to a lack of care and disregard to a real condition. Possibly sharing his story could change something or bring attention to what can happen when people in pain are disregarded.

Please take care of you!

Thank you-all of you for your kind words, and thoughts. Please feel free to tell anyone you think needs to know about this (my brother-in-law), I've been telling all of my medical team about it. My hope is that if individual doctors start to look at their patients differently-even those society has deemed as a problem-maybe other lives will be saved.
